My love for the market began in 1987 when I first opened a brokerage account with Fidelity Investments. You know what happened back in 87'. "Black Monday", the market crashed. My initial $ went down fast. Thus began my thirst for the challenge to make it in the market. Although I have science background, my Bachelors degree is in Economics from Washington University (great school). I also have earned an MBA in Finance from Fordham University, New York. Although I am registered as an "investment advisor" with the NASD, any information in this blogger is not intended for any business use.

Expedia does it

If you have read my note yesterday, you'd know that I am not too happy with the market action lately. This morning, I simply did not even bother looking at the computer. I knew it was set up to be a boring day. I just wanted to check in at 3:30pm to see if there would be any follow up by the big boys (wall street institutions). Nope. No such luck either.

So, I went shopping for an ultra comfortable recliner for myself. What I am looking for is called the "Black Chaise Leather Recliner" - once you step into it - you will fall asleep in two minutes. It is the ultimate TV watching chair as well as afternoon napping chair (yeh!). All men deserve one of these. And then I saw the "Human Touch Robotic Leather Massage Recliner" by Sharper Image. Hmmm - what to do...

Oh, by the way, there was a typo on last night's note.
RICK will report earnings next Monday (8/14). I meant to say EXPE instead of RICK. Expedia (EXPE) came out with the numbers and it was quite good. How good? The stock closed yesterday at $13.82 and this morning it opened at $15.18 going as high as $15.64 (+13.2%) finally closed at $14.65 (up +6.01%). Now, our EXPEZ went as high as $5.60 (+26.7%) but closed at $4.93 (up +11.5%) for the day, with about 6x the normal volume.

If you had kept up with my blog the last two weeks or so, you would have noticed that I wrote about EXPEZ several times. I personally bought this on four separate occations, lowering my average price to $4.37/share. Now, I feel bad that I did not buy more two days ago in the $3's.
Acetrader owns 3,000 shares of EXPEZ so I feel OK. How about you?
Let me repeat once more for you, just in case.
My target for EXPEZ is close to $10 per share! Enough said.

PRZ also came out with earnings today (we sold this two days ago at $1.97). Although EPS was good, revenue numbers were so so. The stock fell and it is now at $1.80/share. To be sure, PRZ still offers value - it is just that the mojo is gone for now. We will come back later to catch this at lower price : )

I understand that sometimes it seems too much to follow all I am saying. Believe me, it only takes few minutes a day to follow this blog - and I hope this is worth few minutes of your time. It will be more fun if you connect with me through the comment section below. If I can assist one person to better control his/her finance, thus their future, I would feel better knowing I am sharing this with you. Good nite.

P.S: EXPE goes up +6% then again EXPEZ (this is what we own) goes up +12% ! Hmmm - now do you see why I advised you to buy EXPEZ instead of EXPE directly? You're welcome!

@Jaewoo
(Follow-up to your question in the previous days comment section)

I'm a recent college grad who recently started working and trying to make good investments early-on. My normal hold times for stocks you recommend have been 3-6 months, unless you state explicitly otherwise. Using your tips i have been able to stay green overall since i started. Yay! :)

Anyways, I am in Olympia, Washington. And btw, you do have other fans down here.

Ok.. dumb question - is EXPE and EXPE*Z* the same company? I pulled up quotes on EXPEZ and it looks like thats the case. If so, is this similar to Class A / Class B shares of Berkshire Hathaway? Just curious.

I have been reading and following your blog for about six months and I am very much impressed by your insight.
I am following your advice on stocks as well and have 15000 shares of prz at 1.35 but want to sell them at 2.49. ( resistant level on the chart)
I did make $2250 on 1000 shares of expe in one week.
I wish you best of luck in your health and with your will power and positive attitude I am sure you will over come this serious illness.

Friends:

Wow, I am impressed! I didn't know I had fans in Washington! I graduated from Washington Unversity but this was in St. Louis. We've been lucky to have several +50% gainers in few short months but normally our holding time is longer than 3-6months. In fact, holding time is of no concern for me - profit is.

EXPEZ is Expedia. Go back and re-read May 25th note explaining the Expedia warrant. I've made some sick money with warrants before : )

Woo, and someone's making money! I love stock gains because this is not a zero sum game like all other gambling gains. When you bet $ at the casino or sports, what you are making is what others are loosing. Can you really be happy in the long run knowing others are suffering? I can not.

I just noticed that EXPEZ is down to $4.00 (down 18% in after trading hours). I couldnt find any news, that could cause such a drop.

Do you think its a good time to jump in and load up on EXPEZ?
